Firmly:
The Origin Story

How a mom’s quest for work-life balance became a mission to help attorneys focus on what they do best

It's Summer 2020.

I’m sitting in my home office, my one-year-old son napping in the next room, scrolling through news about a world that suddenly feels completely different. After nearly 15 years in design, over a decade creating long-form content for local magazines, I’m asking myself the question so many people were asking that summer:

“What do I actually want out of my life?”

The answer came clearly: I wanted flexibility to be there for my son. To go to school events without asking permission. To drop everything if he got sick and needed me. To build something that could help more people while giving me the freedom to be the parent I wanted to be.

That October, I made the leap. I left my Creative Director position and started my own design studio.

The Learning Curve

I had nearly 15 years of graphic design experience, but starting my own business? That was completely different.

I spent that summer teaching myself how to build WordPress sites from scratch. I’d always known how to maintain and update them, but designing and building them from the ground up was a whole new skillset.

Every business owner I talked to had the same frustration: they felt trapped by systems that didn’t serve them.

The Pattern I Kept Seeing

As I started working with clients, I heard the same thing over and over:

“I didn’t start this business to worry about my website. I just want something that works so I can focus on my clients.”

These were brilliant professionals, amazing at what they did, but completely overwhelmed by their websites. They wanted to bring their visions to life online, but the technical side felt impossible.

Sound familiar?

Why I Chose to Focus on Attorneys

The decision to focus on lawyers became crystal clear when my business coach, Shannon, had her Stripe account hacked and $40,000 stolen.

Stripe wasn’t helping. She desperately needed a lawyer who specialized in this exact situation. But here’s the problem: She couldn’t find one online.

Shannon had to rely on personal connections and referrals. She ended up hiring the wrong firm first, wasting money on lawyers who couldn’t actually help her specific situation. It wasn’t until she found the right attorney that she felt that palpable relief of knowing someone truly understood her case and could fight for her.

But imagine if that lawyer had been findable online. Imagine if their website clearly showed their expertise in her exact problem. Imagine if she could have booked a consultation immediately instead of wasting time and money on the wrong fit.

Shannon’s experience wasn’t unique. When my husband and I needed to create an estate plan to ensure our son would be protected if something happened to us, we struggled to find an attorney who clearly explained the process and made us feel confident about such an important decision. My intellectual property law clients tell me their prospects often can’t easily understand what services they actually offer. Immigration attorneys I’ve worked with say potential clients get overwhelmed trying to figure out which type of visa applies to their situation.

That's when I realized: When I help an attorney get their website right, it's not just about getting them more clients. It's about helping people who desperately need legal help actually find the right lawyer for their situation.

The ripple effect became clear. Better attorney websites mean people in crisis can find help faster. They can identify the right specialist instead of hiring the wrong firm. They can feel confident they’re in good hands during some of the most stressful moments of their lives.

The Realization That Changed Everything

Your website isn't just a marketing tool. It's your home base. It's your credibility marker.

When someone desperately needs a lawyer, your website is often their first impression of whether you’re the right person to help them.

When someone is facing a legal challenge, they’re often scared and overwhelmed. Your website needs to instantly show your compassion and expertise. It needs to demonstrate why you do this work.

Most attorney websites fail at this completely.

What Firmly is Today

That’s why I created Firmly. A Client-Generating Platform specifically for solo attorneys and small law firms who want to focus on practicing law, not building websites.

You didn’t become a lawyer to build a website. You became a lawyer to help people.

Every website includes:

In 5 business days, you get a fully built, professional WordPress site that you own completely.

It's like having a 24/7 team member bringing qualified clients to your door.

Why This Matters

When I help an attorney get their website right, I’m not just helping one business. I’m helping every person who will ever need their legal expertise.

Think about it: Attorneys who can stop worrying about their websites get to focus entirely on serving clients. A clear, compelling online presence means the right people can actually find them during their most vulnerable moments.

Your expertise deserves a website that works as hard as you do. The people who need your help deserve to find you easily when they’re facing their biggest challenges.

My Promise to You

If you’re reading this feeling frustrated with your current website, or overwhelmed by the thought of building your own, or tired of losing potential clients to competitors, I see you.

I know what it’s like to want more control over your time and your business. I know what it’s like to have expertise that can change lives, but feel stuck by systems that don’t serve you.

You deserve a website that brings you the right clients while you focus on being there for the people who matter most.
